The general term vitamin B6 includes three compounds, pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine. All three can be transformed through enzymatic processes into pyridoxal-phosphate, the biologically active form of this vitamin.

A preliminary study that compared two groups of women aged over 50 years by observing them for three years reported that high intake of vitamin B6 was associated with a risk of depression below 43%.

Some studies observed results on carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms, leading to theorise an analgesic effect that can improve the pain score.
