Vitamin E is one of the main factors involved in the antioxidant defence system.

In the cardiovascular system it modifies and stabilises fatty acids in blood, preventing the formation of blood clots and improving circulation. It also hinders LDL cholesterol oxidation, reinforcing capillary walls and inhibiting formation of the atherosclerotic plaque.

Moreover, vitamin E is involved in the mechanism that protects against the development and progress of cerebral damage, particularly in neurological diseases. By protecting fatty acids against the effects of free radicals, particularly in the brain, it inhibits cellular ageing processes.

Recent studies on the use of vitamin E for the skin indicate anti-tumoral, photoprotective and epidermal barrier stabilising effects.  In fact, on the skin vitamin E provides a defence system against photoageing and environmental damage (ozone, toxic metals, smoking, pollution), and can be indicated for atopic and seborrhoeic dermatitis.
