Chromium contributes to maintain normal macronutrient metabolism and normal blood glucose levels.

Chromium increases insulin sensitivity, with effects on body composition (ratio of lean body mass and fat body mass) and on weight.

The hypoglycaemic effect is expressed by strengthening the insulin signal, and seems to have a positive effect also on mood and on the craving for carbohydrates.

The role of this micronutrient in the intake of food has been observed. This function seems to be mediated by a direct effect on the brain.

In some studies its intake reduced the consumption of foodstuffs, appetite and the craving for carbohydrates and fats.

Chromium picolinate is the most bioavailable form because it remains stable at gastric pH and is absorbed as such.
