L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine Food Supplement

Non essential amino acid  that the body synthesises from L-phenylalanine.

Though L-tyrosine is a “non essential” amino acid, some conditions require its supplementation (for example, in subjects with phenylketonuria), to compensate for the body’s inability to synthesise it. Hence, we could more precisely define it a ‘semi-essential amino acid’.

Scientific studies have underscored its positive role in mood swings and in weight control, as a consequence of its involvement in important metabolic pathways that regulate mood and appetite.

Tyrosine is then involved in the synthesis of melanin, produced by the body to neutralise the production of free radicals after exposure to UV radiation. With the action on the enzyme tyrosinase, tyrosine is converted into melanin and, therefore, this amino acid could be a useful adjuvant for tanning. This action has to be confirmed by further clinical studies.

Other ingredients: bulking agent (dibasic calcium phosphate), L-tyrosine, anti-caking agents (stearic acid and vegetable magnesium stearate), thickener (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose), glazing agent (hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose), resistance agent (glycerol).

Do not combine with anti-depressant MAO inhibitors. L-Tyrosine is not recommended for subjects with hypertension, migraine and melanoma. Do not use during pregnancy and in children or, anyhow, for prolonged periods without asking your doctor for advice.
