Alpha-Lipoic Food Supplement

Antioxidant food supplement that participates in the production of cellular energy. Gastro-resistant tablets.

Alpha Lipoic Acid or thioctic acid is an antioxidant coenzyme that participates in important cellular energy producing reactions that mostly occur in mitochondria.

Active both in the lipophylic and hydrophilic environment, lipoic acid performs its antioxidant activity by attacking ROS, preventing lipid peroxidation and reintegrating and regenerating other antioxidants (vitamins C and E, glutathione, ubiquinol).

It is also an effective liver detoxifying agent and a metabolic accelerator.

In many studies lipoic acid has been used as prevention and therapy for diabetes type 2, with clinical trials on diabetic neuropathy. These studies report significant improvementsin peripheral nerve conduction, besides prevention of the progression of neuropathic damage.

Lipoic Acid can improve cognitive function with protective effects on the brain, which are effective against oxidative damage and memory loss.

Other actions observed with the use of this coenzyme concern ocular protection, compression neuropathies (lumbar-sciatic pain and cervical-brachialgia), and burning mouth syndrome.

The gastro-resistant tablets convey lipoic acid directly to the intestine, protecting the active ingredient against the actions of stomach acids, and ensuring its greater bioavailability.
