Borage Oil Food Supplement

Rich in omega-6 fatty acids, titrated at 20% of GLA, indicated for skin trophism, joint well-being and menstrual discomfort.

Borage is a spontaneous plant that is grown for culinary use (leaves) and medicinal purposes (seeds).

Along with evening primrose oil (Oenothera biennis), it is one of the main sources of GLA.

Studies report that subjects with inflammatory skin diseases (atopic dermatitis, psoriasis) are deficient in omega-6 essential fatty acids, such as GLA, and suggest their use for these disorders.

Borage Oil, even in low doses (180 mg of GLA a day), has been successfully used for premenstrual syndrome, showing that it safely and effectively improves the associated symptoms (pain, headache, swelling, mastalgia, mood swings).

In rheumatoid arthritis it has been tested either alone or combined with fish oil (EPA&DHA).

The cold mechanical extraction of borage seed oil without the use of solvents ensures the purity of the product and keeps the precious nutrients unaltered.

Gamma linolenic acid (GLA): Borage oil seeds are rich omega-6 essential fatty acids, particularly gamma linolenic acid (GLA). The body is unable to synthesise it; hence, the need for its dietary supplementation. This lipid compound has been attributed effects on chemical mediators of inflammatory processes, such as prostaglandins and cytokines.
